Tour de Ooty

Here I’m back writing about the awesome experience about the recent trip to Ooty with friends-Gautham, Avi, immi, Sunil, Sujay.

On June 30th early morning at 3 30 we left Bangalore. We had booked a Tata Sumo. We took a first stop at Cafe Coffee Day on the Mysore road just few kilometers from Mandya. We have a nice time there. The purpose of stopping there was to get rid of sleep. But no one seemed to feel sleepy. The next stop was at St. Philomena church at Mysore. It had started raining at times we felt it would destroy our program. But it was mild and chilling. It did not last long. There was a break to take snaps in front of Mysore Palace. Though we were in hurry to reach Ooty as earlier as possible we faced few problems on the way.It was well in the city of Nanjanagudu that our vehicle tyre gave a major problem. It almost took one hour from 7 15. We had coffee and waited till we could resume. At 8 30 we were still more than 100 km to Ooty. After crossing Madhumalai and those 36 hair pin curves we reached Ooty by 12 30. We had booked the lodge from here. Hotel Nahar residency. It was a real pain to search Hotel. When we asked route to that hotel, people there just said “STRAIGHT”!, even thought there would be no road straight!!! Then we had lunch at ‘Ooty meals’. It had already started raining. Our first place of sight seeing was Ooty lake. Boating was there but I had a fear they would stop it as soon as went there. When a year back I had been to Ranganathittu. the boating was stopped till the rain stopped . But here they did allow. Rs 250 for 8 heads and for 20 mins. We were only six. I saw a family with a kid. I called them to join us. So it was a full boat journey for half an hour. Next was Doddabetta. It was the best place in the entire trip. We went there at the perfect time. It is the highest view point in south India. It is 8138 MSL(mean sea level). The temperature was very low about 3-4’c. The entire place was covered mist but at a time it got evaporated and there was a clear view. Then we had to search for Fernhill Palace. We almost wasted 20 mins. At last when we got it we came to know it was a guest house. The palace did not entertain visitors. Botanical garden was the next in the list. The garden was cool. A nice time pass. But what shocked us the most was the parking. There was no board or instructions for parking. But as sson as we took our vehicle out a person having the parking receipt charged 50 bucks. The entrance for the garden for one head was Rs.10 but for parking its 50!! Our day with sight seeing came to an end. We had nice time in the hotel that night.

Coonoor: The whole of next day we had to finish places at Coonoor and return to Bangalore as early as possible. On the way we also wanted to go for a safari at Bandipur. We had to reach Bandipur by 4 PM. The day started off bit slowly. The way to Shola forest was very scenic. The roads were not too good but however it was well maintained there. In Shola forest we came across a view point from where we could see the rail passing from many kilometer above it. The point was called Pakka Surana view point. From there we went to Lamb’s rock view point and Dolphin Nose viewpoint. They were all similar with enormous scenic beauty. We were running out of time so we had to drop laws falls.Another botanical garden Sim’s park was thw last till lunch. After lunch we left for Bandipur. We reached Bandipur at 5 15pm. The bad news was waiting for us. It was july 1st and in Karnataka safari at many places were called off for a month from that day! With this our vehicle broke down at Gundalpet at 6 50 PM. We took a tea break by the time the vehicle had to be repaired. We reached Mysore by 8. The problem did not end. Almost when we reached Mandya again vehicle gave a problem. This time it was a major one. It was a Sunday night and all the automobile shops were closed. The driver was from Mandya and his family was out up there. He somehow managed to get the vehicle repaired by 10 PM. From there we took two and half hours to reach Bangalore.

Post exam time!

Exams had their happy ending on 19th. Just hoping to get marks for what I have written I started spending time attending functions, watching movies and touring. Three days after the exam I went to a marriage and reception on same day followed by Satyanaryan pooje the next day. It had been months I went to a function where in I could get in touch with some of my relatives. I got DVDs from a friend. He gave about 7 DVDs of all time watchable movies like Oceans eleven, FD1,2, Stuart Little1,2 Enemy at the gates, Road to Perdition. Of which I have almost finished 5 in two days. Other than that movies featured in tv. Next comes touring. Of which upcoming is the trip with friends. The location decided till now is Ooty- Coonoor which may or may not change! Then I’m planning to go to my native place the very next day I come from Ooty. Will write about the trip after coming from native place.

I look up in my site calender to know- I am away from writing for about two months now. Damn! I am approaching towards the end of my graduation. The three years bringing revolutionary changes in me, is gonna end! Now that I should be studying seriously for the final semester exam I am finding out ways not to get bored, Of which the best thing is to update my site.
I was busy with the project to be submitted as a partial fulfillment of last semester. We made a software for automation of sales and billing of a car showroom using VB and SQL. It was fun as we finished it without any one’s help. We learned different ways to implement certain features and were successful too. I enjoyed teaching others too. Next is the record writing. Being in final semester I had not written anything from the starting. So the entire record had to be completed in very short duration. Next came preparatory exam. Though I had not prepared too well I managed to write well! I blame the busy project work for this. Finally I finished my practical exams this week. So its the time to sit and study well for the final exam. Its hard to believe that I will be going to college(officially) only for 6 times to write the exam. Exactly next month by this time I would have finished my exams. Will definitely miss the college!!

Recently my brother invited me to sign up a well organized site-goodreads. This site is all about keeping account on what books you read. One can invite friends and when they update any information about the book an email will be sent to keep informed about their tastes. Here is a preview on what I read.

The preview is not showing the complete list. One can make number of shelves and arrange the books. A review can also be written about a book. No harm in spending time on this kind of sites.

Infosys aptitude test was on 8th . After all Karnataka bandh news I thought I would miss this test. As planned months before I had been to Thirthalli to attend a function on 7th. To my luck bandh got postponed to 12th. I had left Bangalore on 6th night, returned on 8th morning. I looked sick which isn’t new especially after waiving two nights sleep. According to the news I got the presentation about the company was over on 7th . Only the recruitment process was left for 8th. But they gave one more presentation and it was 11 30 when they directed us to the rooms to take up the test. They gave us the application form to be filled. Next they gave us OMR answer scripts. We took lot of time to fill in the details. We started the test by 1. By 2 15 they gave another paper to write an essay for about 10 mins. They announced the results by 3. Infosys selected students separately for BPO , for them interview was over and 101 people were selected. But for IT they told us to come to Infosys office at Kormangala on 15th.

My internals were going on. They allowed us to go there by 12 for our convenience. There were several other colleges too. We had to wait for long(12 30 to 3 30) to be called for interview. By 3 30 our college turn came. They had selected 22/42 from Christ college, 4/5 from Garden city college, 6/14 from JNC. We were wondering how many of us would get selected from 15 of us. I just used to think Gods must be laughing. My chance, as always, came almost at the end. Interview went on for at least 20 -25 mins for me. We were waiting for the results. They selected 12/15. I was one among those 12. I was really happy. I just imagined the number of times I told myself not to write aptitude or not to attend interview!! I just thought I still have all my dice rolling and I’m in full possession of a lively mind!

Dandeli, after 12 months!!!!

Last year by this time I was involved in a higher degree of fun and joy. In three years of graduation we had one industrial trip to Mico factory. Other than that only selected students were taken to Ramnagar. I was not lucky to be a part of that. But was lucky enough not to miss the Dandeli trip. I had not told any of my friends about me going with them to the trip but somehow they got to know when they went to pay the money. Sujay and me had decided together to go to the trip.

Our rafting team was too good. We had asked them to give few photos of rafting but we were given only one. Those others small sized photos were not for us. Still I got one photo . Hoping to get minimum of two more. Till then will post only these two.
